Event: Youthopian: The Marketplace
Venue: Lot10
Date: August 09

This was our first time participating in a bazaar that was being held in downtown KL. Sadly, it was to turn out to be quite a painful learning experience for us. But we chose to take the positives from the event and keep the happy memories…

We were setting up shop at the area opposite the Lot10 food court called “Hawkers”
This time, we decided to do something we hadn’t done in our previous two events.. we brought our rack! We figured it would be needed for this particular event..
After setting up the rack, it was time to arrange our merchandise on the table.
Ta da…. the shop is ready!
Clowning around while setting up is something that we’re experts at doing…
It’s quite apparent that not everyone has been blessed with good height.. =)
AWAS! Good thing we both weren’t more than 6 feet tall. Otherwise, it would probably turn out to be a painful day for the head…
Doing the label to promote our customised wedding cards… ssshhhhh… don’t interrupt his concentration
Our shop was ready for customers… but before that, take photo first!
A bunting advertising the event at Lot10. Sadly, promotion for the event was quite sorely lacking as we were to find out later on…
This is a frontal view of the bazaar area… it looked more like a pasar malam than a bazaar to be honest. And the heat… insane!
If I remember correctly, he was the earliest guy to come check out our stuff….
He was pretty interested in our customised wedding cards too…
Although traffic was really low, we still managed to pique the interest of this Aussie family..
They were asking questions about our designing for name cards and wedding cards. Too bad they were leaving from KL the same day.. otherwise, we may have had a chance of doing business with them.. oh well, I guess you get some and you don’t get some.. =)
As usual, after buying, please sign our blatant© wall…
Our friend Mel came to check out our new stuff and also support us.. thanks!
A visit to the blatant© booth is never complete if you don’t sign our wall….
Another interested visitor…
This guy is one of the construction workers involved with the Lot10 renovation. He came over, looked at our stuff, and asked us whether we had t-shirts from Metallica or Iron Maiden… hahahah…
The guys from YTL were there to film and take photographs of the event. Not sure whether it’ll ever see the light of day though… heheh…
This pakcik thought our designs were pretty unique, “tapi I tak pakai t-shirt yang tak de kolar” (I don’t wear round neck t-shirts)…
Attending to a potential customer…
It was either taking photos or doodling during the massive amounts of idle time we had.. =)
Wanna know how small the world is? This customer turned out to be our university mate!!
Our car hang tags generating some interest from this lady…..
One couple looking at our merchandise while the other signed our blatant© wall…
After their turn is our turn to sign the wall…
Thanks for signing our wall!
Traffic was pretty sparse, so we were actually able to take photos of many of the individuals who came over to our booth..
Mask or no mask, we welcome everybody!
The good part of having very little crowd is that the people who did come could take their time to browse without feeling pressured…
Even the blatant© wall was generating interest… good good.. =)
And of course, you can’t look at the wall without signing right?
Our most loyal customer, Daniel, came over to check out our booth. By that time, the heat was getting to us and this photo says it all… =)
For all his efforts to come visit us, we let him sign our wall… hehehe.. just teasing.. don’t marah ok Daniel? =)
Before leaving, we decided to take a photo with the vendors who we got to know on that day..
More clowning around…

blatant@InfluenceConference

Event: Influence Conference 09 by Youth Alive
Venue: Petaling Jaya Glad Tidings (PJGT)
Date: July 09

The Influence Conference was something that blatant© was invited to be part of by the organisers. We were really honoured as there were only 4 vendors invited to set up shop during the conference with an estimated attendance of about 200 participants.

It was to prove a VERY fruiful endeavour as we were able to bring blatant© to a whole new market and a whole new group of people, including international students!

Setting up shop.. ho hum ho hum…
After setting up shop, the next step is to design the labels that we were gonna use. We purposely designed our labels and tags so that it would have that personal touch to it… besides, it was fun! =)
Besides us, there were 3 other vendors present for the Influence Conference. This is another t-shirt company called shirts4real.
Another vendor who sold books.. CanaanLand
Some of the early visitors to our booth. Don’t you just love happy people? =)
We had a good time chatting with Edward, who we later found out was actually working for CanannLand. His views and thoughts about t-shirts and their designs were good. We’ll try and look for that thin cotton material ok Edward?
Closer to the start of the conference, there were more people checking out our stuff
These were some of the international students who came to check out this unheard of Made in Malaysia brand… they liked it!
If I remember correctly, he was our first customer of the day….the first of many
They came, they saw, they liked!
Always good to see our local folks mixing with non-locals no?
We set up an area where we displayed our custom designs that we’ve done for other companies / organisations and it caught the eye of this participant who took our namecard. We’re looking forward to doing her business… heheh
More interested people going through our stuff…
Remember the international student with the red shirt.. you’ll find out why later…
The world is really small… managed to bump into some friends from our hometown!
Remember the guy in pink? His name is Prakash and he bought his first blatant© t-shirt during our first road show in Taipang. He still remembers us and it was good to see him again…
What do you do when you have free time at an event? Take photo lah!
These are some of the customised designs that we brought to show our portfolio..
“Posting” a message on the blatant© wall…
The only thing that’s nicer than a smiling person, is a smiling customer!
Trying out the t-shirts for size…
And after you buy, leave us a message… =)
This was the 2nd day of the conference…
Check it out.. they even advertised our booths during the sessions!
The wallapaper used during the Influence Conference
Talking business with Max from Botswana…
Smile for the cameras!
All t-shirt lovers and enthusiasts welcomed!
Again, we welcome anyone who likes our designs regardless of age. Keep em coming!
Some preferred to look from afar before finally deciding to touch the t-shirts…
Remember the international student in the red shirt earlier? He bought our t-shirt and wore it to the conference the next day. It made us SO proud.. =)

Event: The Warehaus Sale by Threadszoo
Venue: MIST @ Bangsar
Date: July 09

Once again, blatant© was hitting the streets. This time, we took part in a 1 day bazaar event that was held in Bangsar. It was our first time participating in such an event, and it was to prove a very fruitful effort.

A big thank you to our friends who came and helped us out to take care of our booth and also our friends and fans who turned up to support us! We hope you had as much fun as we did!

This is where it all happened on 11th July 2009… the Threadszoo Warehaus Sale @ MIST Bangsar…. the avid clubbers may not recognise MIST in the bright sunlight… =)
This was the walkway leading to the bazaar area. This was taken way before the bazaar started, hence the empty, bare tables…
Another “BEFORE” shot taken inside the bazaar area. There were a total of 45 vendors who were peddling their ware (including blatant©), so there was a lot of setting up going on.
This shot was taken just after we had booked our booth area and set down our bags.
Setting up the booth
The finished blatant© booth. We were one of the few clothing vendors who decided to be radical and NOT use a clothes rack to display our apparel.
A closer look at all the designs that we were selling on that day. Our 4 new designs are the ones on the far left.
This is another shot of the booth, that gives a better view of the wedding card section that we set up (it’s to the right)
The free time that we had to take pictures and smile for the camera was about to come to an end.
A close up view of the second table that was used to display our car hang tags and also promote our customised wedding cards services
Urm… this one is just for the syiok sendiri-ness of it… hahah.. it’s an artsy shot no?
The bazaar had officially begun, and the strobe lights, spot lights and loud music were already in full force… the shoppers were slowly making their way in to the bazaar area.
Even despite the fact that it was only 11-something in the morning, the area still looked and felt like a nightclub… =)
A view of the other booths where shoppers were checking out the things on sale…
They were one of our earliest customers… here you can see them signing our blatant© wall. It’s almost like a Facebook Wall, except this is something physical. It’s a way for us to remember all those who visited our booth. Look out for it in our other bazaars and booths in future. A big thank you to our good friend Jaime for suggesting it, even though she suggested it in jest. =)
Looking at some of our customised wedding cards that were on display.
By this time, the blatant© wall was slowly but surely being filled up. It’s really fun because those who signed all took the time to decorate it and make it look nicer than it already was..
Looking at the “Common Sense” design.. this was one of the 4 new designs that we launched at the bazaar… turned out to be one of our hot sellers that day.
“Posting” a message on the wall…
Looks like we’ve got cross generation appeal! They were actually buying for their relatives, but hey, we don’t discriminate! =)
They came, they looked, they bought.
Oh, they signed too.
This was another design that sold quite well..
He finally saw the message when he saw the back.
This was one of the busier times of the day. It was already afternoon and the crowd was getting much heavier…we were very thankful for the air-conditioning on the inside… heheh..
This bunch of t-shirt lovers came straight to our booth and checked out our stuff. We must’ve done something right.. =)
Never too young to start…
Reaching for the sky.. uh, the t-shirt, I mean.
A lot of guys found it funny and amusing. This guy took it to the next level. He bought it….. in front of his girlfriend. That’s our kinda guy!
Even the ladies at the bazaar found our designs something out of the ordinary.
These weren’t exactly Charlie’s Angels.. more like Replacement Killers. They helped us to take care of the booth in our absence.. thanks guys!
Before leaving, you must always do a proper handover… =)
Tired but undoubtedly happy….bring on the next event!

blatant@Metropolitan

Event: Metropolitan College Open Day 2008
Venue: Metropolitan College, Subang Jaya
Date: July 08

blatant© was invited to open a booth in conjunction with Metropolitan College’s first ever Open Day at their college premises in Subang. The main people who would be attending this Open Day would be secondary / high school students. Held during the 2 days of the weekend, it represented a chance for us to interact with a younger group of people and introduce them to blatant©. The turnout to the Open Day itself was disappointing somewhat, but at least we had loads of fun!

A big thank you to our friend and photographer Eugene Yong for his help in taking some really wonderful shots of the event! For those who are interested in his services, do contact us and we will direct you to him!

blatant @ metropolitan Everything looked nice and tidy, and ready to go….
We liked the signage, so we took photos of it… =)

the pipes that lined the ceiling plus the ceiling colour gave this shot great contrast of colour and enhanced the vividness of the signage. Yeah, it’s all about the signage!

now how’s that for making a statement when you drive??!!

this is what happens when you are overworked… but still fighting! hahahaha….

another great shot of the anti-suicide hang tag

oh, this is one hang tag we’ve been dying to do!

Before the crowd came.... Having a break from all the hustle and bustle of the Open Day
Two eager secondary / high school students filling up the survey form to get their free lanyard
Ironically, our first sale of the day came from a Metropolitan staff! But hey, we don’t descriminate do we?
Yeah, that’s the bag that we don’t sell. You can only get it by buying blatant products. Needless to say, he was impressed… heheh
He didn’t seem to buy it at first, but he relented when he found there was a free lanyard at the end of the survey….
they self-confessed that they were bullies... These guys didn’t want to look at the hang tags because they said that they were bullies and therefore wouldn’t buy anything that would talk bad about their kind… different strokes for different folks we suppose..=)
These girls were really excited about the free lanyards and proceeded to call all their friends. The start of viral marketing?
to buy or not to buy, that is the question The two students had obviously not heard of blatant before and were of course, curious.
A brother-sister tag team at the blatant booth
Chit chatting during the quieter times of the day

We spotted a few of the u-mobile workers who had gotten the free lanyard proudly wearing it. Unfortunately, we only managed to get this shot because he was the only guy standing still long enough for us to sneak a shot!
a little breather in between.. Tired but happy….

blatant@Huge 07

Event: HUGE Camp 2007
Venue: Bukit Merah Laketown Resort, Taiping
Date: December 07

These are the photos that were taken when the blatant© roadshow was held all the way in Taiping, Perak for the HUGE camp. There were an estimated 600 participants for that camp and it was a GREAT place to spread the “gospel” of blatant©….it was tough alright, but it was worth every minute of it. We made some new friends and had lots of fun in the process, although we were pretty zonked by the time we reached back to KL.

Please click on the images to enlarge it

the booth had just been set up, and the campers were still having their session. this was to be the calm before the storm…
the view of the booth

this is another view of the booth that had just been setup. yeah, we had quite a lot of time while waiting for the session to finish.

so let’s read what this shirt says… why is your reason for the season? oh, it’s WHO is your reason for the season!

this was the power of peer pressure captured in all its glory. it was very encouraging to see the response. the girl on the right was reading about blatant and philosophies.

these two girls were one of the last few who managed to grab the “dead santa” designs before they were totally sold out.

this guy was totally awesome. he bought the t-shirt, brought his friends back along with him and then sportingly posed for our cameras. cheers mate!

sam from australia was very impressed with the shirt designs. he bought 3 t-shirts at one go and he’s waiting for the 2008 designs to come out. let’s hope the distribution deal for australia goes through! then sam can get it there instead of having the team here to courier it there.

yeah, i wish i would get all cash instead of presents for Christmas… too bad that only happens during Chinese New Year!….

the girls were pretty taken up by the “murdered santa” designs. and here i was thinking initially that the design may have been too brutal…

another happy customer!

the dude in this picture had no idea his picture was being taken. we later found out that he had actually bought the t-shirt earlier, when blatant had set up a booth during the “Soul in the South” conference in Kluang, Johor.

yes, cash is very much preferred please… *grin*

he came, he saw, he bought. and then he came back again for some more.

for some strange reason, he seems to remind me of Jason Lo. don’t know who that is? never mind then.. it’s apparent we came from different generations.

he killed santa, not me.

say, do you think i could fit into the baby-t sizes?

even till the last 15 minutes that our booth was open, we were still getting customers who either wanted to buy t-shirts or wanted to know when the 2008 designs were coming out. yes, we know it’s supposed to be out soon.. patience our friends… patience…

yeah, we agree that santa looks a lot better dead than alive
