Moving forward by looking backwards…

by lostasylum | January 22nd, 2010

It’s 2010 and it seems like 2009 flew by so quickly without even saying hello or goodbye… and in fact, now suddenly, it’s already 22 days into 2010!!!! Where does all the time go? =)

Anyways, we’d like start off our first post of 2010 by talking about an event that happened in 2009. Our regular readers would know that our favourite event is the Art for Grabs event that happens at the Annexe Gallery in Central Market almost every other quarter (we think). Anyways, we managed to get a spot there again for the December edition of it and this time, we were afforded a very nice space where we could decorate our place and make it feel like our place…and of course, it wouldn’t be blatant© if we didn’t spend time clowning around now would it? =)

NOTE: As usual, to enlarge the images, please click on the photos

Well, apparently, there are some people who can’t seem to get enough of this clowning around, so we just had to bear with it… (but since she’s the chief creative person, I guess it’s ok lah… we give chance)

This was how our booth looked like…

… we had loads of buyers from all walks of life…

And the very satisfying part was that we were dealing with a predominantly new crowd of people who were introduced to the blatant© of humour and wit…

We were terribly honoured when one of our local writers Amir Muhammad (of “Malaysian Politicians Say the Darndest Things” and “Yasmin Ahmad’s Films” fame) found our t-shirts attractive and bought one for himself! He’s the intelligent looking man on the right in the picture above. Amir, don’t kill us ok? =)

We were having loads of fun just being there, and the happiness was quite apparent don’t you think?

But we have saved the best picture for last. We would like to introduce the most excited new fan that we have seen in blatant© history.

She’s also our youngest customer we’ve ever had. She really liked the t-shirt and insisted her mom get it for her even though it’s a tad bit big for her… after buying it, she wore it on and gave us the wonderful picture above.. =)

We were really tired by the time the 2 day event drew to a close, but we really had so much fun. It wasn’t just the watching our merchandise get appreciated, but we ourselves had a lot of fun exploring the other booths and seeing all the creativity that was there… we actually spent quite a bit on buying a lot of things there as well… heheh…

But anyways, we’ll be back next to tell the story of our KONFEWSD t-shirt, which apparently has gotten more than quite a few people confused, so stay tuned! Have a great weekend and be safe!

Christmas designs….

by lostasylum | November 26th, 2009

We know that Christmas is around the corner… from the release of Jim Carrey’s “A Christmas Carol” to decorations that are starting to sprout all over shopping complexes and shops, it’s quite apparent more and more people are getting ready for it…. =)

For us at blatant©, another tell tale sign that Christmas is coming is when we start getting a flurry of emails asking us where and when they can get our Christmas designs.. we’ve even been getting SMS / text messages reminding us that Christmas is around the corner (and therefore implying that our designs should be out by now)! =)

But anyway, please bear with us because year end madness has descended upon this small little outfit and we’re literally praying for extra hours in a day to get everything done and sorted out. However, regardless of everything that is happening, we will be having our Christmas designs for this year.

More information will be coming your way next week… promise!
Have a great weekend (for the Selangor folks), and happy working for the KL folks…

blatant @ cyberjaya…

by lostasylum | November 9th, 2009

Hey there everyone.. just in case you were too preoccupied with the WAR t-shirt launch last week that you forgot to read the bottom portion of the post, here’s a plug for our latest location…

blatant© is at Cyberjaya!!!! Specifically, our goods are being sold in Multimedia University Cyberjaya where we’re helping to do fundraising for MMUCS’ upcoming Agape event to held early next year….

Here’s the e-flyer that’s been given sent out and used on blogs…

Cute isn’t it? But anyways, here are TWO GREAT REASONS why you should be heading to Cyberjaya straight away:

1. A portion of the proceeds go directly to helping fund the upcoming Agape event.
2. We hear a little bird tell us that there are DISCOUNTS on our merchandise there….

Well, there’s 1 week left for this fundraising event, so we suggest you go chcek out while stocks last… =)

Have a great week ahead folks!

Najib visited our website?

by lostasylum | October 23rd, 2009

When we wrote this post last month, we were writing to make fellow Malaysians aware about the fact that the day that ALL Malaysians (including our East Malaysian friends) should be celebrating is Malaysia Day on the 16th of September every year.

However, we were totally blown away when 4 days ago, it was announced by our current Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak that starting from 2010, Malaysia Day will be a public holiday! We believe that it is because he read our website and was moved by our sincerity and determination to spread awareness about this historic day… (ok, so maybe that last sentence wasn’t entirely true…heheh)

Whatever it is, we at blatant© believe that this is a step in the right direction for Malaysia. The news has made our day and it sets us up nicely for the weekend. We hope that this news has helped to make your day as well…. take care, enjoy the weekend and be safe.

By the way, so sorry for the post about this piece of news although it was released 4 days ago. But heck, you know what they say, better late than never!

PS - Our new design will be ready next week… so keep checking!

when darkness turns to light…

by lostasylum | October 16th, 2009

I bet that when the All American Rejects sang the song “It Ends Tonight”, they did NOT know that the words of the chorus would suit the Festival of Light to a T. =)

But yes, our Hindu friends all around the world will be celebrating the festival of light tomorrow, more famously known in Malaysia as Deepavali. Also known as Diwali, the name of the festival derives its name from the words “Dipa” and “Gavali”, which basically means a row of lights. Now it probably makes more sense when you see your Hindu friends light up diyas and vilakkus (oil lamps fashioned out of clay) in a pretty row.

The Hindus celebrate this festival to celebrate the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness… yeah, you can start singing the AAR song now.. =)

Besides all the pretty lights, houses will usually be decorated with beautiful and intricate coloured rice flour patterns known as “kolams”.

We at blatant© don’t celebrate Deepavali, but we love the delicacies that are usually made during this time, ESPECIALLY the muruku and curries… (decided not to put any food pictures cause looking at it just makes me hungry!!)

Anyway, do take the time to wish your Hindu or Indian friends (yes, there are non-Hindu Malaysian Indians who celebrate Deepavali as well) Happy Deepavali… take a little extra time to wish them in their native tongue….so, to all our bFFs (blatant© Friends and Fans), we would like to wish you…..

Iniya Deepavali Valthukkal!! (தீபாவளி வாழ்த்துக்கள்)

Do drive safely and enjoy responsibly! To the rest of you, happy holiday and don’t forget to go around visiting yeah!
