Valentine’s Day has come… on the same day that our ruling government has announced that elections will be held on March 8. Sheesh. But that’s another story. Back to Valentine’s Day… most of us take for granted that Valentine’s Day has always been about lovers and their love. However, you’d be surprised to know that Valentine’s Day actually began due to two early Christian marytrs named Valentine…

Valentine of Rome was a Roman priest who was martyred circa AD269, while Valentine of of Terni was the bishop of Interamna in Rome. He is reported to have been marytred under the hand of Emperor Aurelian (circa AD197). Up until 1969, the Catholic Church formally recognised 11 days of Valentine, where February 14th is the day of recognition for Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Terni. Of course, back then, Valentine’s Day was known as St. Valentine’s Day.

The first association of St. Valentine’s Day with romantic notion was recorded in Geoffrey Chaucer’s poem “Parlement of Foules” to commemorate the the first anniversary of the engagement of King Richard II of England to Anne of Bohemia. And the rest of course, is history. And today, we have Valentine’s Day that is celebrated on February 14th. Learnt something new today? Heheh.

And even as we celebrate Valentine’s Day today, let us focus on our loved ones and not the gifts. Buying exhorbitantly priced roses does NOT mean that you love a person more. Of course, it’d be nice if couples would like to purchase the Blatant Valentine’s Package for themselves, but that’s not the point. Making your loved one feel like he / she is loved, and really cherishing the love that is shared, that is what Valentine’s day should be all about.

The valentine’s package is still available and you can ORDER HERE….. Happy Valentine’s Day folks!
